Expertentreffen 2
Post date: Feb 22, 2013 11:51:18 AM
On February 21, 2013, the second Expertentreffen took place between 5 and 7 p.m. in Honolulu’s Kaka'ako district. The University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center hosted the event. As many as 25 attendees, mostly professionals with profound expertise joined the two hour long mixer and meeting.
Educational services, real estate agents, air transportation, wholesale trade, musical & wood artists, and financial investment advice services are just a few examples of industries, which contributed to this get-together. A broad variety of brochures, flyers, and other materials presented different businesses.
Special thanks to Lucy Lynch for her musical performance and Heiko Gerb for beautifying the room with his amazing wood art.
We were blessed to have as keynote speaker, Robby Ostrem, the German Benevolent Society’s president, who educated the guests with astonishing facts about the society’s more than 150 years of history in the Hawai‘ian Islands. In addition, the German Club Hawaii president, Alexander Meimer, spoke on the Purpose, Mission and Vision of the Group, and our UH host, Gertraud Maskarinec, provided insights into the work of the Cancer Center and her specialty of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine. Attendees like, Denis Salle, the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the State of Hawai‘i, participated in discussions regarding future clubs projects, such as an Oktoberfest, Christmas Market and German sister cities.
The survey findings are encouraging to organize the third Expertentreffen, which is scheduled for the 2rd quarter of 2013. If you are interested, please e-mail to info@germanclubhawaii.com to receive updates.
Special thanks to Heidi Bertucci for warmly greeting everyone, and Juergen Gross for taking pictures and writing this synopsis.
