German Judges Needed-Moanalua High School World Language Speech Festival
(French and Spanish Judges are also needed)
Moanalua High School is the only school in the State of Hawai'i with a World Language Learning Center. The World Language Learning Center provides opportunities for students to learn foreign languages and cultures and enables students to utilize language inside and outside of classes. Every year the World Language Learning Center provides opportunities for students from Moanalua High School and other schools around the State of Hawai'i to see their growth and utilize their language skills in front of community members at Moanalua High School's Annual World Language Speech Festival.
In order to enable students to see their growth and skills achieved within the past school year, community judges are an asset to the festival and needed to provide speech festival participants guidance and advice in their foreign language development. You support will help our students, the festival and the strengthening and promoting of foreign language learning in our local community. Being one of the few schools in Hawai'i with German language classes, Moanalua High School is asking for your association's help with judging our German language students. The Speech Festival is on April 2nd, 2016 (Sat) from 8:00am-12:30pm.
Community Judges: You do not need to be fluent in German as long as you can carry a simple conversation in the target language. Judges must also should have taken 1 year of German in college. OPI Advanced High or Native speaker in either langu
age is a plus, but not necessary. You will be judging the student's speech using a rubric which I will send to you. Judges will receive breakfast and a goody bag for their time. Judges will come at 8am and be escorted to the rooms which they will be judging in. After the third session is completed, you will be asked to fill out a judging evaluation form and leave around 12:30pm.
Right now, we have no German judges and I need at least 10 judges. I hope that your club would have members that would be willing to volunteer and help at the Moanalua High School Speech Festival to share, celebrate and perpetuate the languages that create and make up our melting pot here in Hawai'i. To continue the culture, diversity and international awareness in Hawai'i and for our future generations to come.
Thank you for your time and hope that your association would be willing to help this wonderful program.
Attached also is a document of our tentative time schedule and also the guidelines for the festival. (will be added soon)
I will be awaiting your response. Thank you for your time and cooperation. Have a great day.
